Certified Nursing Assistant Program

This 81 hour course will prepare students to master the theory and skills necessary to provide patient care. Students will be tested on theoretical as well as practical skills at the end of the course. A certificate will be provided upon completion. This course prepares students for the state CNA exam with the State of Michigan CNA Board.

Admissions Criteria

  • You must be at least eighteen years of age
  • You must have a current TB Test or Chest X-Ray (or one will be administered to you)
  • You must pass a criminal background check

Tuition Reimbursement

The Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) explains how reimbursement can be obtained for this CNA program. Priority Health Institute will teach you how to obtain almost one-hundred percent tuition reimbursement through the State of Michigan NATCEP.

Core Curriculum

​The curriculum is made up of the following ten modules:
•    Clinical Aspects of Patient Care
•    Foundations of Patient Care
•    Psychosocial and Emotional Care of the Patient
•    Basic Anatomy and Physiology
•    Basic Nursing Care
•    Nutrition and Hydration
•    Chronic/Acute Medical Conditions
•    Rehabilitation and Restorative Therapy
•    Professional Standards of Care and Conduct
•    Recreational Therapy

​Successful course completion requires competency of the following objectives:
•    Effective Communication with Patients
•    Maintaining Medical Confidentiality
•    Recognize and Promote Patient Right's in a Health Care        setting
•    Assisting Patient's in attaining their highest functional        independence
•    Understanding Disease Process
•    Assessing Patient's Skilled Care Needs

Clinical Rotation

​During a 16-hour supervised clinical rotation at a local nursing facility, students are supervised and evaluated by experienced RN instructors while performing nursing assistant tasks and interacting with residents and staff. The clinical rotation must be successfully fulfilled in order to complete the CNA program and apply for certification with the State of Michigan CNA Board
